Twitter Reacts to Sarfaraz’s Racist Comments Against South African All-Rounder

Pakistani team’s captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed is in hot water following his racist comments against South African all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo during the second innings of the second ODI on Tuesday.
The comments were caught on the stump mics in the 37th over as the South African batsman inside-edged a ball to deep fine leg. He taunted, saying:
‘Abay kaalay! teri ammi aaj kahan baithee hain? Kya parhwa kay aya hai aaj?’
The commentator Mike Haysman asked Ramiz Raja about what Sarfaraz was saying. Ramiz chuckles, saying:
‘Difficult really to translate that. It’s a big long sentence’.

Sarfaraz Ahmed to Andile Phehlukwayo:
“abbay kaale teri Ami kahan bethi hoyi hain aaj, kya parhwa kay aya hai aaj”
“black man wheres your mother sat? What have you asked your mother to pray for you today?”#SAvPAK

The racist remarks do not bode well for Sarfaraz as he risks being penalized under the International Cricket Council (ICC) Anti-racism code or code of conduct for player behavior, depending on the match officials.
The Anti-racism code defines an offense as:
“Any conduct (whether through the use of language, gestures or otherwise) which is likely to offend, insult, humiliate, intimidate, threaten, disparage or vilify any reasonable person in the position of a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee, Umpire Support Personnel or any other person (including a spectator) on the basis of their race, religion, culture, colour, descent, national or ethnic origin”.
The all-rounder was later crowned man of the match for his brilliant all-round performance, including his career-best 4/22 and 69* to steer his team home in an enthralling low-scoring clash.
The Twitterati are having a field day, bashing the captain for his unacceptable remarks. Let’s have a look at what people are saying over the microblogging platform.

Here’s what Sarfraz was heard saying to Phehlukwayo in yesterday’s #SAvPAK ODI.
Not only racist, but also just a crap sledge.

Just like most desi’s Sarfaraz probably doesn’t even think calling someone “kalay” is racist, still unacceptable & deserves some sort of punishment.

I am all for banter, confrontations etc, but racism is unacceptable. There is a need to educate players, fans about this.

Seeing so many tweets about Sarfaraz. Assumed it was about his poor play. Turned out to be something far worse. Can’t believe he made such a racist comment. That was below the belt.

Sarfaraz deserves a ban for what he told Andile Phehlukwayo, but one sees this kind of racist muck every day on the streets of this subcontinent. India, Pakistan everywhere.Wonder what makes us, largely and beautifully dark-skinned people, loathe dark skin so much.

Desi folks casually using “kaala” in their day to day lives doesn’t make it right. Sarfaraz & everyone else who thinks calling ppl with darker skin “kaala” is okay is a RACIST. Instead of giving these lame excuses, pls try to improve your overall behavior!🙄 #CasualRacism #PAKvSA

Dont know what is dumber, Sarfaraz braindead racist jibe or people justifying lack of understanding on race, culture coz of little or no education, law 101 – ignorance of law is no excuse, he is a national captain for goodness sake, ban and captaincy on the line

A blessing in disguise?

Its blessings in disguise for @TheRealPCB to suspend useless Sarfaraz after that racist comment against Phehlukwayo.#SAvsPAK

Others are defending Sarfaraz in a hilarious manner.

Sarfaraz didn’t mean to be racist when he said KAALAY.
Bhai wo kudh konsa Faiza Beauty Cream k ad mein aata hai?#PAKvSA

Sarfaraz is NOT a racist, he didn’t mean anything when he said KAALAY.
Its just hard to pronounce PHEHLUKWAYO.#PAKvSA
